The Climate Clock in Union Square, New York City
The Climate Clock is a timer that counts down to the date the IPCC has determined for the world to stay within 1.5°C of global warming by. As of June 2023, the cutoff date is the 22nd of July 2029. In addition to the amount of time remaining for the world to reduce its emissions sufficiently, the Climate Clock provides solutions that are already working, such as renewable energy and indigenous land sovereignty. The clock can be sped up when emissions rise and slowed down when emissions fall.
